VNPT Cyber Immunity joins the 2026 Information Security and Cybersecurity Workshop and Exercise

As part of the 2026 Information Security and Cybersecurity Workshop and Exercise organized by VNPT Group on September 24–25, 2026, VNPT Cyber Immunity (VCI) contributed to two key activities: a workshop on AI governance and safe AI use, and incident-response exercises covering information systems and public network infrastructure.

AI and the need for safe governance in a new era

Artificial intelligence (AI) is being used increasingly across governance, operations and information security. Alongside opportunities to improve monitoring, analysis and response, AI introduces new requirements for risk management, control and safety during deployment and use.

At the workshop, Mr. Vu Manh Kiem, Deputy Director of Platform Technology at VNPT Cyber Immunity, presented ‘AI Governance for Safe AI Use’, focusing on the role of AI in information security.

The presentation covered the following main topics:

  • AI and development trends — changes in AI technology and emerging trends in its application;
  • AI risks — identifying risks that may arise during AI development and use;
  • AI Governance — governance requirements for controlling risks and ensuring safe AI use;
  • AI Governance at VNPT — the direction of AI governance within enterprises and the VNPT ecosystem;
  • AI in information security — AI’s role in monitoring, detection, analysis and support for responding to information security threats;
  • Conclusion — principles for balancing the value of AI with control of the associated risks.

Through the presentation, VCI emphasized an approach that combines AI adoption with governance and risk control, with information security considered throughout the AI application lifecycle.

Exercises for information security and cybersecurity incident response

The exercise scenarios were divided into two main groups: protecting information systems and protecting public network infrastructure against information security and cybersecurity threats.

Detecting and containing malware spreading across a network

One scenario simulated an attacker taking control of a user’s computer on the network and then using the compromised device to spread malware to other computers.

The response teams had to detect unusual activity, identify the source of infection, isolate affected areas and handle the incident, limiting the malware’s further spread through the system.

Responding to ransomware and recovering encrypted data

Another scenario simulated attackers exploiting an existing system vulnerability to deploy ransomware and encrypt data across the system.

This scenario focused on ransomware detection, incident handling and data recovery, testing the teams’ ability to coordinate and execute response plans during a widespread data-encryption attack.

Exercise results

Team 12, comprising participants from Hai Phong, Hung Yen, Bac Ninh and VNPT AI, won First Prize overall in the exercise. The result recognized the participating units’ ability to coordinate, analyze and respond to information security and cybersecurity incidents in a realistic exercise environment.

Strengthening response capabilities against cybersecurity threats

Combining an in-depth workshop with practical exercises enabled the participating units to learn about emerging trends, share experience and test their ability to respond to information security incidents that could occur in real-world operations.

As AI brings significant changes to both cyber defense and attack methods, organizations need to do more than apply AI to strengthen system protection. They also need appropriate governance mechanisms to control risks arising from the use of this technology.

As VNPT’s specialist cybersecurity unit, VNPT Cyber Immunity continues to apply its expertise in research, monitoring, detection and response to cybersecurity threats. It also participates in exercises and shares knowledge and practical experience to help improve information security capabilities across the Group.
